Do you take insurance?

Yes, I accept payment from the following insurance providers:

  • Medicare Advantage

  • Medicare Plus Blue

  • Aetna

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield

  • Medicare

When you call your insurance company you may want to ask several questions, including:

  • What are my benefits for out-patient mental health?

  • Can I see a provider of my choosing, or must I see a network provider?

  • How many sessions am I entitled to per year?

  • What is my deductible?

  • What is my co-pay?

  • To what address should claims be sent?

What are your office hours?

I offer daytime, evening and weekend hours. I will work with your schedule.

how long is a session?

A standard session is generally 50 minutes, however longer sessions can be scheduled as needed. If you are going through a particularly difficult time or are working on an issue needing more urgent attention, coming in twice weekly may be helpful. In addition, some clients will eventually transition to bi-weekly sessions as issues become less intense.

Can I do phone sessions?

My preference is for us to meet in-person. This is very important for the counseling process. We can certainly check-in by phone, and you may of course call me if you are ill or out of town. Regardless, setting up phone appointments may be necessary from time-to-time depending on your situation

How many sessions will I need to attend?

There is no set amount of time. It depends on your unique situation. We will discuss this together as you start to feel better and the challenges that brought you in seem to be improving. I will be honest with you about where I see things at that time.

How soon can I meet with you from the time that I contact you?

I will try to get you in for your first appointment within five days of the time that you call. If it is an emergency I will make special accommodations.

Who else will know what we talk about?

I adhere to the National Association of Social Worker guidelines in terms of confidentiality. If you are in danger to yourself or someone else I am legally required to contact one of your family members, who we would identify at the outset of treatment. Or if you choose to have someone else know the information we discuss in sessions, I will have you sign a release.

What if I want to discuss medication?

Social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists can all provide counseling, while only psychiatrists and other physicians can prescribe medication. I will always be willing to give you appropriate referrals for psychiatrists who will prescribe medication if necessary after doing a psychiatric evaluation.
